Welcome to my art practice!

This is a space where I’ll share my unfinished work—the messy middle stages where doubt shows up and determination kicks in. I’m excited to invite you into my process: the sketches that don’t quite land, the breakthroughs that change how I see, and the everyday practice of making art, even when the next step isn’t totally clear.

Making art is an honest act—it asks us to be vulnerable and to keep going despite the struggles and uncertainties. Here, I’m reflecting on that journey: the technical discoveries, the creative struggles, and the small victories along the way. I’m grateful you’re here to look, to listen, and to walk this path with me.

What You’ll Find Here

A partially completed landscape painting featuring a dirt pathway bordered by green trees and a light sky in the background.

This blog is a record of an artist in progress—not a polished portfolio, but an honest document of the work as it happens.

Here you’ll find behind-the-scenes glimpses into my art process, finished pieces alongside works in progress, sketches and experiments that may or may not go anywhere, and reflections on the less glamorous parts of making art: the doubt, the false starts, the slow growth, and the persistence it takes to keep going. I share all of it because I believe the full picture matters.

My Process

A palette with various oil paints, including blue, purple, gray, and white, alongside a bottle of refined linseed oil and a container.

I’ll share how ideas begin for me—where they come from and how I turn them over before I ever pick up a tool. From there, I want to show how materials and experiments shape a piece: what happens when I try something new, when a texture surprises me, when a color refuses to cooperate.

The work rarely goes in a straight line, and I think it’s worth showing how it actually develops—from first marks to the moment I decide something is finished (or close enough).

Struggles and Lessons

A pencil drawing of a pear, an orange, and a cluster of grapes on a blank sketch page.

Creative blocks are real, and I don’t want to pretend otherwise. Self-doubt visits often. Comparison to other artists can be paralyzing. Mistakes happen—sometimes they ruin a piece, sometimes they open a door I didn’t know was there.

I’m learning, slowly and imperfectly, to trust the process even when I can’t see where it’s going. I’ll write honestly about all of this—not to dwell in difficulty, but because I think naming these struggles makes them easier to move through, and I know I’m not alone in them.

Works in Progress

This is a space for the unfinished—the sketches that are working something out, the close-up details that reveal how a piece is built, the stages of development before something resolves. I want this section to feel like an open studio: a place where you can see the work mid-thought, before decisions are made and before anything is polished. This section will updated while I go through the process, so check back often for updates. Completed work will be added to the portfolio and shop sections.

Clouds Study

After painting two seascapes, I struggled with painting clouds. When you look at a cloud, you think, “that will be easy to paint.” It’s not. It’s easy to overwork the paint and overthink the…

Come Along for the Ride

If you’ve found your way here, I’m glad. I hope you’ll follow along—not because I have it all figured out, but precisely because I don’t. I’ll keep learning, keep experimenting, keep struggling, and keep showing up to make work. That’s what this is: an honest record of an artist doing the best they can with what they have, one piece at a time. I’d love for you to be part of that journey.
